Qualitative Weather forecast :- :- Mainly dry with increase in day temperatures . Chance of occasional cloudiness in parts after 2-3 days.

Weather based Agro Advisory

Paddy: As temperature is likely to increase , irrigate the paddy nursery regularly. Seedlings become ready for transplanting when they are 20-25 cm tall or with 6-7 leaves. If the seedlings show yellowing of leaf tips, spray them three time with 0.5 to 1 percent ferrous sulphate solution at weekly intervals. If leaves turn rusty brown after becoming yellow, give a spray of 0.5 percent zinc sulphate (21%) or 0.3 percent zinc sulphate (33%).

Cotton: Farmers are advised to apply irrigation to timely sown crop. After irrigation, interculture with manual or tractor driven hoe should be given to improve soil aeration and minimize weed flora. Farmers are advised to keep the regular check on the weeds and alternate hosts of mealy bug since the  prevailing dry weather is conducive for its multiplication.

Sugarcane: Irrigate the crop at 7-10 days interval and apply second dose of  urea @ 65 kg per acre along rows.  Black bug sometimes becomes serious particularly on ratoon crop during this month. Check this pest by spraying 350 ml of Thiodan/Endomass/Sohna Endosulfan 35 EC or Dursban/Lethal/Massban 20 EC in 400 litres of water per acre. Direct the spray into the leaf whorl.  As the dry weather conditions prevail, mite may also cause severe damage to this crop. For its control spray the crop with 400 ml of malathion 50 EC in 100 litres of water per acre. Remove “Baru” weed growing around the sugarcane fields. Check Thrips by spraying 400 ml of Malathion 50 EC or 350 ml of Thiodan 35 EC per acre in 100 litres of water.

Vegetables: Do not apply excessive irrigation to tomato and cucurbitaceous crop otherwise the fruits can crack. Apply Sevin @ 1g/litre of water to save cucurbits from red pumpkin beetle. The partly cloudy weather is favourable for development of powdery mildew on cucurbits. Apply 50 -80 ml Karathane per acre in 100 litre water. Repeat it at 15 days interval.

Fruits: Apply spray of 0.3 percent zinc sulphate to kinnow to reactify zinc deficiency. To check attack of Citrus psylla apply 625 ml Nuvacron or 1250 ml Rogor in 500 litres of water per acre.

Livestocks: Vaccinate the dairy animals against FMD and HS diseases. Provide plenty of fresh and cool water to the animals. Feed concentrates in the soaked form. Avoid grazing of the animals during hot hours of the day. Young calves should be bathed frequently.
