Qualitative Weather forecast:- Weather will remain partially cloudy to cloudy with possibility of light to moderate rain/thundershowers at few places in next 1-2 days which may reduce afterwards at Mansa and its adjoining areas.

Weather based Agro Advisory

Cotton:  Farmers are advised to drain out excess water from the fields if required as the crop is sensitive to standing water and rain is expected in the coming 1-2 days. Uproot and destroy leaf curl infected American cotton plants upto initiation of fruiting phase.  In case of attack of jassid the leaves start curling, so spray the crop with 40 ml of Confidor 200 SL or 40 g Actara 25 WG in 100 litres of water per acre after 1-2 days as rain is expected in coming 1-2 days..

Rice: Apply 37 kg urea per acre to the paddy transplanted in june. In case zinc deficiency appears, apply 25 kg Zinc sulphate per acre. In case of iron deficiency, spray 1 per cent ferrous sulphate solution 2-3 times at weekly intervals.

Fodder:  Kharif fodders sowing at regular intervals may be continued for continuous supply of sufficient green fodder. Cultivate non-legume fodders in mixture with legume fodders like cowpea and guara.

Vegetables & Fruits: As the rain is expected, apply irrigation to standing vegetable crops as per requirement. To check fruit and shoot borer attack in brinjal, spray 800 ml Thiodan 35 EC /100 ml or Sumicidin 20 EC/200 ml in 100-125 Iitres of water per acre. Rogue out and destroy the virus infected chilli plants and spray the crop with 400 ml Malathion 50 EC in 100-125 litres of water per acre.  Repeat the spray 3-4 times at 14 days interval. On chilli there can be rotting of fruits in rainy season. Apply 750 g Indofil M45 or Blitox in 250 litre water acre.

To control pathological fruit drop and rot in citrus give four sprays of Bavistin (500 g/ 500 litres of water) or Aurofungin (21 g/500 Iitres of water) at 15 days interval starting from this month.  To control insect-pests of citrus like cirtus psylla, white fly and leaf miner, spray 625 ml Nuvacron 36 SL or 1250 ml Rogor 30 EC in 500 litres of water. This solution will be sufficient for one acre of full grown orchard.

Animal Husbandry: Due to arrival of monsoon period, place the animals and poultry birds in clean and dry place and also adopt efficient cooling systems for them. Animal shed should be dry, airy and well ventilated.  Animal concentrate should have 2-4% more crude protein than winter concentrate i.e. add more oilseed cakes in the concentrate. Hot and humid climate may lead to conditions of ring worms in animals so keep the animals clean and dry. Also protect wounds from flies to avoid maggots infestation. Avoid feeding wilted fodder crops. Get your dairy animals vaccinated against Gal Ghotu, which can cause heavy loss to animal life.
