An Act to amend the Land Acquisition Act, 1894, as amended by Punjab Act II of 1954, in its application to the state of Punjab.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Punjab in the Seventh Year of Republic of India as follows: -

Statement of Object and Reasons: –  Section 17 of the Land Acquisition Act, 1894, prescribes the procedure to be followed for taking immediate possession of land before the award is announced in case of urgency and for other purposes specified therein. The Bill is designed to replace the said Ordinance. (Punjab Government Gazette Extraordinary, 1956, page 1090).
